We answer women’s biggest golfing fears?

womens-golfing-fears

Golf is an incredible low-impact, sociable sport that brings with it many benefits to mind and body, but with a reputation as a man’s sport, many women still have fears that they won’t be able to take part.

At love.golf, these golfing fears are something we want to help battle, as we believe everyone should have the opportunity to play golf and enjoy a good round in the fresh air without feeling judged.  At love.golf getting started is as simple as signing up and just turning up, you don’t need to know golfing lingo or who won the Ryder Cup in 1975 and you won’t need to invest in a set of fancy check trousers (unless that’s your style of course).

So to help put you at ease about getting involved in the game, we’ve listed some of the most common questions we get asked by our ladies who want to get started with love.golf.

Do I need my own set of clubs to play?

When you take part in the love.golf programme you do not need your own set of clubs.

We know clubs can be a costly expense when you’re starting a new hobby, so for each session, we provide the clubs you need.

This gives you a great opportunity to give the game a go, without having to invest heavily in all the gear.

If you decide to continue after the love.golf programme and want to buy equipment our coaches can give you some guidance on which items you should purchase first so that you can spend money on the key clubs you need rather than investing heavily in an unsuitable set. However, it is not always needed and most clubhouses supply hire clubs if playing with friends and family.

Is there a strict dress code at golf courses?

The golf courses that are part of the love.golf programme allow a relaxed and informal dress code, so there’s no need to worry that you don’t own any golf shoes, or that you’re not wearing the right top.

We always recommend that you simply wear what you feel comfortable in and suitable for walking around and outdoor weather, so you can focus on having fun!

The same goes for when you finish the love.golf programme.

Many clubs no longer have strict dress codes, just check with your love.golf coach if you have any questions, but most just request that you wear something comfortable and sensible for playing the sport.

Do I need to learn the rules of golf?

We know that rules are daunting when you learn a new sport, but that’s why the love.golf programme is a great way to get started.

With a golf coach on-hand, and a relaxed and fun environment, there’s no pressure to be a know-it-all, as the love.golf coaches will teach you all you need to know as you play.  You don’t need to learn the lingo, after all, you will be too busy having fun to worry about that!

This way you learn in a group as you play and you’ll be able to understand what you need to know if you decide to start playing on your own.

Do I have to become a member of a club?

When you learn through the love.golf programme you do not need to become a member of any Golf Clubs.

Even when you finish the programme, many of the clubs provide a pay-as-you-play option so that you don’t have to commit to a membership fee, just check with your love.golf coach.  The choice is yours and you may just want to continue meeting up for golf or even a chat over a coffee with other love.golfers.

The choice is yours to continue playing golf around your existing lifestyle with no pressure from love.golf although your new love.golf buddies may be giving you a nudge to meet up!

I’ve never played golf before, does this matter?

Absolutely not! – Remember that everyone started somewhere, and even the professional’s started as a beginner.

With the help of the love.golf programme, you learn to play without any pressure or judgement.

It won’t take long for you to get into the swing of your game and start being able to play alongside other friends.

At love.golf, we’ll show you what you need to know and give you the confidence to make playing golf a fun and enjoyable sport.

Will my age restrict me from playing golf?

Golf is suitable for all ages, that’s the beauty of it.  Even self-confessed couch potatoes can find a new lease of life!

You can play with friends, and family members, which makes it an incredible sport for spending quality time with others.

When you come along to a love.golf session, you’ll realise that there are many different women from all walks of life who wish to play golf and meet new people.

Will I fit in?

There is a perception that golf clubs are overrun with men, but there are actually a growing number of female players.

When you take part in the love.golf programme, you’ll see that there’s a diverse mix of women who come from many different backgrounds and have varied lifestyles.

From mothers and grandmothers to business owners and students. It doesn’t matter what your background is, you’ll find a great mix of people who all love coming together to simply learn and enjoy a great game of golf.
