Let’s cut to the chase. Golf and business. Do they go together? Like, really?
We all know the stereotype about businessmen doing deals on the golf course or in a dark corner of a clubhouse. But there’s nothing stopping women from heading to the golf course to meet colleagues, clients or customers, is there?
Rather than wonder whether it could work, we put it to the test…
We partnered with The Athena Network, the UK’s leading networking community for women in business, providing opportunities for professional growth, collaboration, and success, to host an event for businesswomen in and around Lincolnshire. It was a chance for them to meet, network and try out love.golf (the perfect combination, if you ask us 😉).
Reflecting on the experience, Emily, an Events Coordinator from Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, called it: “A warm, welcoming event with great energy and inspiring connections. Loved trying out Virtually Golf and meeting brilliant women.”
The Athena Network’s Regional Director for Lincolnshire, Michele Kruse, who hosted the event, was first inspired by attending a previous love.golf experience, “I felt the combination of golf, business and networking provided a meaningful introduction to a new skill and fantastic way to bond with like-minded women.
“Already we have witnessed new connections being made, opportunities created and the women who took part keen to step out on the golf course to relive and build on the enjoyment they got from hitting a golf ball for the first time.”
What Makes Golf Great for Business
In a world of notifications, distractions and demands on time, being out on the golf course for an extended period of time gives you the chance to connect on a different level. You get to see how someone ticks during their downtime. You get to bond over a shared activity you both enjoy. Critically, it’s quality time together that helps build trust.
If you’re new to golf and want to get started, look out for our upcoming taster sessions near you. You can also find out about any business events we have planned.
